Crain’s Chicago Business & the RWD Fail

I had my desktop web browser at half-mast, width-wise, which is why I noticed how, despite being programmed to be responsive (RWD), the 40 Under 40 profile pages are providing a TERRIBLE user experience on desktop when a web browser window isn’t in full-width mode.

My first reaction was, did someone seriously design a web page with a visually distracting background that makes reading the text damn near impossible.

This same issue does not occur when you view the same page on an iPad or tablet device, however, which is a relief on the mobile end of the RWD spectrum.

Key Takeaway:

During QA, be sure to test how your RWD pages are appearing across browsers and browser widths before go-live.
